After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

The response from our building appeal has been wonderful and we have been blessed with a new church.  We are still requesting donations to build out the interior of our new church.  Thank you for your continued support and prayers in this endeavor.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
The Holy Ascension Orthodox Church is a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA).  Our parish was founded on May 17, 2007, and through the Grace of God, it has steadily grown since then.  We are blessed to be under the guidance and pastoral care of our dear Bishop Joseph (Hrebinka).  The parish is made up of a diverse group of people and we maintain a regular schedule of services in Russian and English.  We have established a parish council, a sisterhood, a brotherhood, and most importantly, a parish school for the religious education of our children.

We are currently renting a facility in Falls Church, VA, but to accommodate the ever-growing number of parishioners and to allow us to minister better to the many Orthodox believers in the Washington, D.C., area, the time has come for us to build a church of our own.  With hope for the kindness of our Lord, we turn to our brothers and sisters in Christ and ask for your support in this effort.

If you have the means to help us, please support us with your generous donations. All donors will be commemorated at all the services in the litanies (ektenias) “…for the founders of this holy temple…”.  If you would like to donate a larger sum, you and your loved ones will included in our memorial book and your names will be commemorated during the proskomedia at every the Divine Liturgy.
May the Lord bless you!
 + Joseph
