After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

Sister Church Meeting Roca & SIR

METROPOLITAN AGAFANGEL AND ARCHBISHOP ANDRONIK
MEET WITH HOLY SYNOD IN RESISTANCE ARCHBISHOP CHRYSOSTOMOS AND BISHOP AUXENTIUS

Mother Agapia, the Mother Superior of the St. Nicholas Convent in Constantia, New York, hosted a meeting between ROCA and Holy Synod in Resistance hierarchs and clergy October 24.  Metropolitan Agafangel was accompanied by Archbishop Andronik of Ottawa and Canada and Syracuse and St. Nicholas; Protopriest Gregory Kotliaroff; Archpriest Wsewolod Dutikow; Father Anthony Gunin; and Mr. Dimitri Gontscharow. The ROCA hierarchs and clergy met with Archbishop Chrysostomos and Bishop Auxentius.

The representatives of the two churches discussed their common vision in confronting the ills of World Orthodoxy and continuing, in a spirit of moderation but firm commitment, their joint witness. The Hierarchs agreed enthusiastically about the importance of a unified, pan-Orthodox witness by the ROCA, the Synod in Resistance, and our Sister Churches in Bulgaria and Romania. Warm fraternal sentiments and a sense of respectful collegiality marked this exchange of ideas. After their discussions, the gathered clergy enjoyed the hospitality of the St. Nicholas Convent, which served a beautiful luncheon to all present. At lunch, the clergy exchanged toasts and heartfelt greetings and wishes, as well as small gifts, thanking God for their propitious meeting.
