After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

RocorMP Says Ecumenism is ok now

We see on Vladika  Agafangel's blog that  Archpriest Nikolai Artemov from Germany   now thinks ecumenism is even a "positive" thing and that we need not be afraid of it.  And in the comments we see that Archimandrite Luke (Murianka) of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville is now teaching the same thing – ecumenism is not so bad and sergianism and all wasn't as bad as we thought...

Such a stark change.  I remember this coming from Jordanville 13 years ago.  Before the Laurus synod:

"Ecumenism is the most prevalent heresy of our times, and the most devastating heresy of all times."

Archimandrite Georgios Kapanis Abbot of the Mondastery of Gregoriou said in 1995...

"Ecumenism, that is, the movement for the union of the "Churches," as it is carried on today, manifestly has an anthropocentric (man-centered) character, not a theological and spiritual one. It puts aside the Faith (doctrines) and the Tradition of the Church. It views the Church chiefly as a human creation."

He also said, and this is particularly pertinent to me coming from a Protestant background,

"The Orthodox Ecumenists...do great injustice to Western Christians, because they do not help them to perceive their unsound state."

I am searching for the True Church of Christ, not just a Church. In World Orthodoxy terms the Orthodox church becomes just that, another church to choose from as in the Protestant tradition.
