After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

SJKP Boycotted by RocorMP

from Joanna's notepad...

Fr. Gregory says this about his getting out the custom orders for the 2012 wall calendars:

... but that's not the formidable task it once was, as it seems ROCOR-MP hierarchs have forbidden their parishes to use our calendars.

We know that in the Laurus Rocor, in the Western Diocese at least, there were no new ordinations to the priesthood unless the candidate agreed in advance to go along with the coming union.  We know that some of the existing Rocor clergy were approached by the Laurus synod several years before the union and questioned about which way they would go.  Fr. Gregory was one who was not approached in advance.

Why was he not approached?  I see maybe two reasons.  First, his son Matthew was studying in Jordanville under the rewritten Laurus curriculum, and was being prepared to betray his father if necessary.  Second, the Laurus synod knew that Fr. Gregory would lose his already minimal income from SJKP, which also helps support the Haiti mission.  The Laurus synod was betting that Fr. Gregory would do the proper sergianist thing and go with the union for the sake of the Haiti mission, and for the sake of not rocking his boat by having his income eliminated.  To tear his family apart and lose everything he had built since the 70's, his life's work?  And now in his old age, with his youthful energy spent?  And if their hunch was wrong, they had Matthew ready to take action, which he regrettably and most certainly did.

Thank God their hunch was wrong.

We now can thank Fr. Gregory by checking the SJKP catalogue first for books we wish to order for ourselves and for gifts.  Also  calendars and CD's.
