After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

Haiti Mission Appeal

Good News about this year's food donation from Fr. Gregory:

I just received the invoice for the shipment of food relief to our children in Haiti... a bit less than last year, for a bit more food (both schools ran out before the end of the school year).  The food itself (about $30,000 worth) is free, but trucking, ocean freight & customs clearance are not.  The immediate need is for $5290 for freight & clearance; additional funds will be needed for trucking in Haiti and for preparation.  These meals feed about 600 kids a solid meal each school day (for many of them, the only solid meal they will get) throughout the school year.  Be generous!

Major work is underway at St. Augustine's School in Cyvadier/Jacmel... construction of a library (badly needed esp. for upper-level students), and finishing work on some of the classrooms (heretofore only raw concrete block, unfinished concrete floors and ceilings).  I've a mass of photos, some more interesting than others.  I hope to post a number of them shortly for the Mission mailing list (subscribe at haitianorthodoxmission at yahoo groups.com, if you haven't already done so).
