After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

Annunciation parish temporarily under GOC

This was sent out to Annunciation parishioners (and others concerned) September 26, the Tuesday prior to the weekend of Fr. Gregory's first memorial gathering.  Parishioners did not know about the ukaz prior to this emailing.  It is unclear why Vl. sent his personal note months after the ukaz.  At the time the ukaz was written there was only one ROCOR parish in Tennessee, the Annunciation parish.  Fr. John Mahan, currently in Nashville, is not affected, he remains under Metropolitan Agafangel.

Source of translation unknown, it seems to be Vl. Gregory himself:
Dear in Christ Mother Anastasia,
I greet you and your entire community with the Feast of the Nativity of Theotokos!
As for the GOC, since I do not have a priest who can substitute me in my absence when I visit my and other Dioceses, I asked Metropolitan Agafangel to release me from the obedience of presiding over the Diocese of North America. He recommended temporarily transferring the direction to the Greek Metropolitan Dimitri, since his priest (Fr. John Hinton) is already serving you, and GOC also has a parish in Haiti. Having contacted Metropolitan Dimitri, I asked about the possibility of assuming this responsibility temporarily, and he agreed. So you are temporarily under Metropolitan Dimitri's omofor.
I would like you to understand that I did not refuse you, and as much as possible, I will visit you as well as continue to raise funds to help the Mission in Haiti.
Unfortunately, it is already difficult to travel long distances.
With deep respect and invoking the blessing of God upon you,
