After my death our beloved Church abroad will break three ways ... first the Greeks will leave us as they were never a part of us ... then those who live for this world and its glory will go to Moscow ... what will remain will be those souls faithful to Christ and His Church. ~St. Philaret of NY

It is important for the Faithful, as well as we psaltai to know our history and the people in it.  This is a lovely tribute to Protopsaltis Konstantinou Mafidis, who was Canonarch in the Great Church, and chanted alongside the Majestic Voiced Archon Protopsaltis Iakovos Nafpliotis.  His recounting of his young days as a student of Vingopoulos, when he was first asked to chant for his teacher from the books, as the teacher told him the humbling words that most of us have heard from our teachers when we came thinking we knew something:  “Very nice.  Now forget everything -We will start from the beginning”.  Enjoy the video while on your Lenten journey.
